The Nitty Gritty

So it's been a while. Life has just been really odd lately. People have been asking for updates, and I have a pretty big one today. One of the harder parts is over. Yes, the first major step in all of this is finished!
We are home study approved. (That seems surreal to even type out. . .) Is this real life? Is this really happening? I feel like we just got started, but I also feel like it's been an eternity since we began. I know, I know, I have no idea what the timing of the future holds. The gravity of what these next months of uncertainty holds, is heavy on me tonight.
Even in the mess of all this virus, God is still working. It's hard not to think of what uncertainty lies ahead, both from the sickness looming and just the intricacies of adoption. We remain hopeful, ready, and excited about what is to come. We are ready for the nitty gritty. We are ready for you, tiny babe, wherever you may be.
During this next phase we covet your prayers even more. In case it hasn't been said enough, the support we have received thus far is humbling. You have truly become our family. The book we are giving to these mamas is better because of each photo of you.
The estimate timeline for a consultant agency is 6 to 10 months to be matched. Once matched we wait until the little one is born, we wait for placement papers to be signed, we wait for ICPC (the state the baby is born in, and Virginia to do paperwork saying we can take the tiny human across state lines), and then we can go home. This is what we were told would be the hardest part, but we are ready.
That's all I have for now. I pray each of you is staying healthy, and I appreciate you taking the few minutes to check in on our life. I miss genuinely connecting with each of you, but for now i'm thankful to have this little place you can come and feel connected to us and our story.
with grace,
kal
